Los resultados que esperamos obtener de esta investigaci\u00f3n permitir\u00e1n conocer qu\u00e9 grupos son los m\u00e1s diversos, hace cu\u00e1nto no han sido estudiados (revisando la literatura) y, por supuesto, cu\u00e1les son las especies presentes en Chile para cada tax\u00f3n, lo que autom\u00e1ticamente nos permitir\u00e1 conocer el n\u00famero real de animales que habitan en el territorio. Toda la informaci\u00f3n obtenida de este enorme proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 abierta al p\u00fablico de manera gratuita, de tal manera que pueda ser usada como una herramienta para especialistas de Chile y de todo el mundo. Un gran beneficio de utilizar los listados de ChileFauna, es que se encuentran en constante actualizaci\u00f3n, por lo que la informaci\u00f3n presentada es lo m\u00e1s cercana a la realidad posible.<\/p><p>ChileFauna fue creado el 9 de agosto del 2021 como un proyecto personal del escritor cient\u00edfico e investigador Tom\u00e1s Rom\u00e1n-de la Fuente (hoy investigador en jefe del proyecto); tuvo distintos per\u00edodos de pausa y cambios, hasta terminar resultando en esta atractiva y f\u00e1cil de navegar p\u00e1gina web. Aunque mi inter\u00e9s cient\u00edfico por los animales se centr\u00f3 en un comienzo en vertebrados, aprobando con distinci\u00f3n el curso \u201cAves de Chile\u201d impartido por la UNORCH en el 2019 y fundando la ONG Mam\u00edferos de Chile dos a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde (de la cual fui Presidente hasta el 2025), no fue hasta que entr\u00e9 en el mundo de las ef\u00edmeras que comenc\u00e9 a darme cuenta de una nueva pasi\u00f3n: los insectos. Mi primer art\u00edculo cient\u00edfico fue una revisi\u00f3n bibliogr\u00e1fica sobre el orden Ephemeroptera en Chile, investigaci\u00f3n que repet\u00ed con Mantodea, Protura y Archaeognatha, y que actualmente contin\u00fao realizando con otros grupos poco estudiados o conocidos de hex\u00e1podos en el pa\u00eds, como Diplura, Blattodea, Megaloptera, Neuroptera, entre otros. Del 2021 al 2023 fui Inspector <em>ad honorem <\/em>de caza del Servicio Agr\u00edcola y Ganadero (SAG). Me incorpor\u00e9 como Socio Agregado de la Sociedad Chilena de Entomolog\u00eda (SOCHENT) a mis 21 a\u00f1os, lo que impuls\u00f3 a\u00fan m\u00e1s mi inter\u00e9s por la entomolog\u00eda, publicando ese mismo a\u00f1o el pol\u00edptico <em>Insectos comunes de Chile central <\/em>(2021); dos a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde me convert\u00ed en Socio Titular, a trav\u00e9s de mi presentaci\u00f3n \u00abInsectos de Chile: una futura obra editorial\u00bb en el XLI Congreso Nacional de Entomolog\u00eda (Concepci\u00f3n). Fue por esas fechas que cre\u00e9 el proyecto ChileFauna, concluyendo en la herramienta web que aqu\u00ed les presento. Tambi\u00e9n co-fund\u00e9 la empresa Uakari Spa en 2024, la cual tiene como objetivo principal acercar y facilitar la zoolog\u00eda a la gente, comenzando con la creaci\u00f3n de la Academia Uakari (www.uakariacademy.com), la primera plataforma de cursos digitales exclusivamente zool\u00f3gicos. Actualmente trabajo junto al Parque La Giganta (Panquehue) y me encuentro completamente inmerso en el mundo editorial: recientemente publiqu\u00e9 el libro <em>Insectos de Chile <\/em>(Libro Verde, 2025), en calidad de editor cient\u00edfico, coordinador y autor de m\u00faltiples cap\u00edtulos, una gruesa obra que abarcaca toda la entomofauna nacional, as\u00ed como <em>Mam\u00edferos End\u00e9micos de Chile<\/em> (Ilustra Verde, 2025) y el pol\u00edptico <em>Ar\u00e1cnidos de Chile: Zona Sur y Patagonia <\/em>(Naturaleza Inarr\u00fcmen, 2024).
