A diferencia de otros cten\u00f3foros que utilizan coloblastos pegajosos para atrapar presas peque\u00f1as, los beroidos son depredadores activos y voraces que cazan otros cten\u00f3foros y medusas. Su cuerpo tiene una forma caracter\u00edstica de saco o campana aplanada, con una boca extremadamente amplia que les permite engullir presas incluso m\u00e1s grandes que ellos mismos, utilizando macrocilios especializados en el interior de su faringe que act\u00faan como \u00abdientes\u00bb para cortar o succionar el tejido de su v\u00edctima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Desde una perspectiva biol\u00f3gica, su locomoci\u00f3n es impulsada por ocho hileras de placas de peines (cilios fusionados) que recorren longitudinalmente su cuerpo, permiti\u00e9ndoles nadar con gran agilidad en la columna de agua. Poseen un sistema nervioso difuso y un estatocisto en el polo aboral que controla su equilibrio. Una de sus caracter\u00edsticas m\u00e1s fascinantes es su capacidad de bioluminiscencia, emitiendo destellos de luz azul o verde cuando son perturbados, adem\u00e1s de la iridiscencia natural que producen sus peines al refractar la luz, lo que les confiere una apariencia vibrante y casi alien\u00edgena en las profundidades oce\u00e1nicas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><strong>Beroidae<\/strong> de Chile<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En Chile habitan dos especies de Beroidae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>N\u00famero de taxones en Chile:&nbsp;<\/strong>2 (especies)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Beroe cucumis<\/em> Fabricius, 1780<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Beroe gracilis<\/em> K\u00fcnne, 1939<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Referencias<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Oliveira, O.M.P., Feli\u00fa, G. y Palma, S.
