Junto a los odonatos (lib\u00e9lulas y caballitos del diablo), representan a la infraclase Palaeoptera, los \u201cinsectos alados antiguos\u201d, incapaces de flexionar las alas sobre su abdomen horizontalmente (Rom\u00e1n-de la Fuente 2022; Rom\u00e1n-de la Fuente &amp; Nieto 2024). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ephemeroptera&nbsp;de Chile<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De las aproximadamente 4.000 especies de ef\u00edmeras que existen en todo el mundo, tan solo 47 se encuentran en Chile, ubicadas en siete familias: Ameletopsidae (2 spp.), Baetidae (12 spp.), Caenidae (1 sp.), Coloburiscidae (1 sp.), Leptophlebiidae (29 spp.), Nesameletidae (1 sp.) y Oniscigastridae (1 sp.). Adicionalmente, existen 11 <em>nomina dubia <\/em>(especies dudosas) (Rom\u00e1n-de la Fuente 2022; Rom\u00e1n-de la Fuente &amp; Nieto 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El 66% de las especies presentes en el territorio nacional son end\u00e9micas de Chile y Argentina, por lo que los estudios en torno al orden Ephemeroptera realizados en el pa\u00eds vecino son de gran importancia para el conocimiento de nuestras propias ef\u00edmeras.
