Presentan una gran plasticidad morfol\u00f3gica, encontr\u00e1ndose formas de unos pocos mil\u00edmetros hasta tres o cuatro cent\u00edmetros. El orden re\u00fane alrededor de 160.000 especies conocidas, aunque muchas seguramente se mantienen sin ser descritas, particularmente aquellos d\u00edpteros de los grupos llamados <em>dark taxa <\/em>(espec\u00edmenes que no pueden ser asignados a nivel de especie o que pertenecen a especies pobremente documentadas). Los d\u00edpteros representan diversos grupos de importancia econ\u00f3mica para el ser humano al actuar positivamente como polinizadores, parasitoides y depredadores de otros insectos plagas. Otros grupos de d\u00edpteros generan efectos negativos en la salud, tanto humana como animal, al transmitir pat\u00f3genos que pueden provocar graves enfermedades, as\u00ed como hay especies que causan da\u00f1os a los cultivos de importancia para el hombre (Gonz\u00e1lez &amp; Barahona-Segovia 2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Diptera&nbsp;de Chile<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El orden Diptera est\u00e1 representado en el pa\u00eds por cinco sub\u00f3rdenes, tres infra\u00f3rdenes, cuatro secciones (Homeodactyla, Heterodactyla, Eremoneura y Cyclorrhapha), 17 superfamilias, tres divisiones (Aschiza, Schizophora-Acalyptratae y Schizophora-Calyptratae) y 92 familias, las cuales agrupan 920 g\u00e9neros y 3.705 especies (Gonz\u00e1lez &amp;
