Se distribuyen principalmente en regiones tropicales de Australia, el sudeste asi\u00e1tico y Am\u00e9rica, con algunas especies f\u00f3siles descritas en \u00e1mbar de Europa y el Caribe . Su dieta es fit\u00f3faga, aliment\u00e1ndose de la savia de diversas plantas; por ejemplo, <em>Xylastodoris luteolus<\/em> se asocia con palmas en el Caribe, mientras que <em>Thaumastocoris peregrinus<\/em>, originario de Australia, se alimenta de <em>Eucalyptus <\/em>y ha sido introducido en m\u00faltiples regiones, incluyendo Am\u00e9rica del Sur, \u00c1frica y Europa . <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>Thaumastocoridae<\/strong>&nbsp;de Chile<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En Chile esta familia se encuentra representada por una \u00fanica especie ex\u00f3tica introducida: <em>Thaumastocoris peregrinus<\/em>. La especie est\u00e1 presente tanto en Chile continental (Ide <em>et al. <\/em>2011) como en Rapa Nui (Wynne <em>et al. <\/em>2025). Se ha convertido en una plaga forestal significativa a nivel global, causando da\u00f1os en plantaciones de eucalipto.
