Antiguamente conformaban el orden Thysanura junto a los Archaeognatha, pero en el siglo XX se concluy\u00f3 que ambos grupos no correspond\u00edan a taxones hermanos, por lo que Thysanura actualmente se considera parafil\u00e9tico (es decir, que incluye al ancestro com\u00fan de todos sus miembros, pero no a todos los descendientes de este). Antiguamente tambi\u00e9n se les consideraba parte de los Apterygota, grupo que comprend\u00eda a los actuales \u00f3rdenes Zygentoma y Archaeognatha, junto con las clases Collembola, Diplura y Protura; esta clasificaci\u00f3n se gener\u00f3 a partir del hecho de que todos estos hex\u00e1podos no poseen alas (ni sus antepasados), pero hoy en d\u00eda se sabe que Apterygota tambi\u00e9n es un tax\u00f3n parafil\u00e9tico (Rom\u00e1n-de la Fuente <em>et al. <\/em>2024).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><strong>Zygentoma<\/strong> de Chile<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De las cinco familias existentes de zigentomos, cuatro se encuentran en Chile: Lepismatidae (7 spp.), Maindroniidae (1 sp.), Nicoletiidae (1 sp.) y Protrinemuridae (2 spp.). Es importante destacar que, aunque las especies presentes en esta plataforma son aquellas confirmadas por la literatura cient\u00edfica, existen registros fotogr\u00e1ficos de zigentomos en Chile que nos indicar\u00edan la posibilidad de que existan muchas m\u00e1s especies en el pa\u00eds que a\u00fan no est\u00e1n descritas o que no han sido registradas.
