Estos caracoles habitan en diversos ambientes marinos, desde zonas costeras hasta profundidades abisales, y se distribuyen en oc\u00e9anos de todo el mundo. A diferencia de muchos otros gaster\u00f3podos, los Cancellariidae no son carn\u00edvoros estrictos; en su lugar, se alimentan mediante succi\u00f3n, extrayendo nutrientes de invertebrados o materia org\u00e1nica. Su sistema reproductivo var\u00eda entre especies, presentando tanto desarrollo directo como larvas planct\u00f3nicas.
