Son endopar\u00e1sitos obligados del intestino de vertebrados, con un ciclo de vida heteroxeno (en dos o m\u00e1s hu\u00e9spedes), teniendo al menos un artr\u00f3podo como hospedador intermediario, en el cual se desarrollan sus larvas (N\u00fa\u00f1ez y Drago 2017). Son el grupo hermano de los rot\u00edferos de la clase Seisonidea , con quienes conforman el clado Syndermata.
