Recuperado el [inserte fecha de consulta] de [URL].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong><strong>Diplopoda<\/strong><\/strong>&nbsp;Blainville&nbsp;<em>in<\/em>&nbsp;Gervais, 1844<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los <strong>Diplopoda<\/strong>, com\u00fanmente conocidos como milpi\u00e9s, son una clase de artr\u00f3podos del subfilo Myriapoda caracterizados por su cuerpo alargado y segmentado, en el que la mayor\u00eda de los segmentos presentan dos pares de patas, rasgo distintivo que les da su nombre. Se trata de organismos principalmente detrit\u00edvoros, que habitan ambientes h\u00famedos como bosques, matorrales y suelos ricos en materia org\u00e1nica, donde cumplen un rol ecol\u00f3gico fundamental al fragmentar y descomponer restos vegetales, contribuyendo al reciclaje de nutrientes y a la formaci\u00f3n del suelo. A diferencia de los ciempi\u00e9s, no son depredadores ni poseen estructuras inoculadoras de veneno; en cambio, se defienden enroll\u00e1ndose sobre s\u00ed mismos y secretando sustancias qu\u00edmicas repelentes.
