Comprende a los ar\u00e1cnidos (ara\u00f1as, escorpiones, sol\u00edfugos, entre otros), miri\u00e1podos (ciempi\u00e9s, milpi\u00e9s y parientes), crust\u00e1ceos (cangrejos, langostas y similares) y hex\u00e1podos (insectos y grupos cercanos). Se caracterizan por ser animales segmentados con un exoesqueleto quitinoso articulado, con ap\u00e9ndices (con musculatura propia) en posici\u00f3n ventrolateral. Este esqueleto externo es r\u00edgido, lo que impide el crecimiento, por tanto, todos los artr\u00f3podos deben realizar mudas cuticulares (Ribera <em>et al. <\/em>2015). Estos animales habitan en todos los ecosistemas del planeta Tierra, dominando el medio acu\u00e1tico, terrestre y a\u00e9reo. Existe incluso la incre\u00edble posibilidad de que organismos morfol\u00f3gicamente similares est\u00e9n o hayan estado presentes en Marte, como sugieren tentativas fotograf\u00edas obtenidas del planeta (Gabrial Joseph <em>et al. <\/em>2023).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Los artr\u00f3podos se agrupan en cuatro clados: Artiopoda (extinto), Chelicerata, Myriapoda y Pancrustacea. Los quelicerados incluyen a las los grupos vivientes Pycnogonida (ara\u00f1as marinas), Xiphosura (cangrejos herradura) y Arachnida (ar\u00e1cnidos); Myriapoda comprende a las clases Chilopoda (ciempi\u00e9s), Diplopoda (milpi\u00e9s), Pauropoda (paur\u00f3podos) y Symphyla (s\u00ednfilos), y, finalmente, Pancrustacea comprende a todos los crust\u00e1ceos, incluyendo a los hex\u00e1podos (insectos y parientes); es as\u00ed como Pancrustacea comprende tres clados vivientes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Oligostraca: <\/strong>clases Mystacocarida, Ichthyostraca y Ostracoda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Multicrustacea: <\/strong>clases Copepoda, Malacostraca, Thecostraca y Tantulocarida<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Allotriocarida: <\/strong>clases Cephalocarida, Branchiopoda, Remipedia, Protura, Collembola, Diplura e Insecta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8212;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"font-size:20px\"><strong>Arthropoda de Chile<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En Chile est\u00e1n presente las clases Pycnogonida y Arachnida en lo que corresponde a Chelicerata, las cuatro clases de miri\u00e1podos y todas las de Pancrustacea, a excepci\u00f3n de Remipedia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>N\u00famero de taxones en Chile: <\/strong>14.700 aprox.
